About Dr. Sharma
Avinash V Sharma, MD, MPH is a fellowship trained interventional cardiologist at the Cardiology Specialists of Orange County (CSOC). He is welcoming new patients, and proud to serve his home community of Orange County.
Dr. Sharma has professional interests in several areas within cardiology. This includes coronary interventions (angioplasty or stenting) as well as endovascular procedures. He is also trained in transcatheter structural heart procedures such as minimally invasive valve repair/replacement. These procedures include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter edge to edge repair (TEER, also known as MitraClip), and left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO, or Watchman).
Dr. Sharma is an Orange County native. He attended UC Irvine followed by his masters in public health as well as medical degree at St. George’s University where he graduated magna cum laude. His training initially started on the East Coast at Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center, one of the busiest cardiovascular centers in the country before returning home to California. He completed his general cardiology fellowship at UCSF Fresno, where he was chief fellow. Dr. Sharma then pursued his interventional/structural cardiology fellowship training at Harbor UCLA Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles.
He holds board certifications in cardiovascular medicine, adult echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiovascular computerized tomography (cardiac CT).
Dr. Sharma is affiliated with Hoag Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute in Newport Beach, Hoag Irvine & Hoag Orthopedic Institute, as well as St. Joseph Hospital and Orange County Global Medical Center.
